March 15 (SeeNews) - Croatia will hold parliamentary elections on April 17, president Zoran Milanovic said on Friday.
The election day, falling on a Wednesday, will be a non-working day for all citizens, the office of the president said in a press release.
The elections at polling stations in diplomatic and consular offices abroad will take place on April 16 and April 17.
Milanovic also called elections for the European Parliament on June 9.
The Croatian parliament dissolved on Thursday in preparation for the forthcoming general elections.
The ruling centre-right party HDZ led by prime minister Andrej Plenkovic and its coalition partners control 77 of the 151 seats in Croatia's unicameral parliament elected on July 5, 2020.
Plenkovic and the HDZ party have faced accusations of corruption from the opposition. Plenkovic has denied any wrongdoing.
Croatia is also scheduled to hold a presidential election by the end of the year.
