January 12 (SeeNews) - The procedure for awarding a concession contract for the operation of an intermodal terminal in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv has been halted due to a complaint, the transport ministry says.
The complaint was submitted to the country's competition regulator on December 14, the ministry says in a statement published on its website.
According to data posted on the website of the Commission for Protection of Competition the complaint was submitted by Bulgarian-based company Transmodal.
In November, Bulgaria opened a tender for granting a 27-year concession on the intermodal terminal that offers opportunities for combined road/rail cargo transport.
The construction of the terminal cost 13.94 million levs ($7.9 million/7.12 million euro) and took about two and a half years to complete, according to data published on the website of Trace Group Hold, the Bulgarian company which carried out the construction works. The project was financed from EU funds and the state budget.
