SOFIA (Bulgaria), September 19 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria’s power output rose by 3.23% year-on-year to 32,185 GWh in the period January 1 – September 17, data from the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) showed.
Electricity consumption increased by 5.77% on the year to 28,111 GWh during the review period, according to figures published on the ESO website.
Power exports fell 11.45% year-on-year to 4,074 GWh in the review period. Bulgaria halted electricity exports from January 13 to February 9 to meet increased domestic demand amidst harsh winter weather conditions.
Renewable energy in the transmission system increased by 10.50% on the year to 931,940 MWh in the period January 1 – September 17, while renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 3.76% to 1,390,009 MWh.
