March 8 (SeeNews) - The gross domestic product (GDP) per person employed in Bulgaria grew by an annual 0.9% to 52,789 levs ($29,406/26,990 euro) in 2023, the statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary data.
Gross value added (GVA) per person employed also went up in real terms last year, by 0.5% year-on-year, while GVA per hour worked climbed by 0.4%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
GVA per person employed in the industrial sector stood at 54,391 levs in 2023. In the service sector, an average of 47,177 levs GVA was generated by each person employed. Labour productivity was the lowest in the agricultural sector, at 10,775 levs per employee.
Some 3.48 million people were employed in Bulgaria's economy last year, with the total number of hours worked reaching 5.63 billion.
