Bulgaria to start building 65-km section of Struma motorway in summer 2015

SOFIA (Bulgaria), July 31 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria will start building a 65-kilometre section of a motorway linking the capital Sofia with the Greek border in the summer of 2015, the country’s regional development ministry said on Wednesday.

The construction of the Blagoevgrad-Sandanski section will be the most complex infrastructure project implemented in Bulgaria, a press release of the ministry quoted regional development minister Desislava Terzieva as saying upon the launch of construction works on another section of the motorway - between Dupnitsa and Blagoevgrad.

The Struma motorway, with a total length of 173.28 km, is part of pan-European transport Corridor IV. Its construction is divided into four sections: Dolna Dikanya – Dupnitsa, Dupnitsa – Blagoevgrad, Blagoevgrad-Sandanski, and Sandanski-Kulata.
