BELGRADE (Serbia), March 14 (SeeNews) – National flag carrier Air Serbia said on Monday it has signed a lease agreement for a Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft from Slovenia's Adria Airways in order to launch new flights to the German city of Hamburg and Ukraine's capital of Kiev.
The plane with 86 seats will be leased from June to September, and will be also deployed on the existing Belgrade-Sofia route, currently operated on a smaller ATR turboprop, the Serbian company said in a statement.
Tickets for the newly introduced destinations are already on sale.
Air Serbia’s history of commercial cooperation with Adria Airways dates back to 2010, when its predecessor, Jat Airways, established a codeshare agreement with the Slovenian carrier.
Air Serbia, which is 49%-owned by Etihad Airways, was launched as the national airline of Serbia in October 2013. It serves 39 destinations in Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East directly from its hub at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla International Airport with passenger and cargo services.
Air Serbia currently operates a fleet of 14 narrow-bodied and 6 turboprop aircraft.
