April 29 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Zagreb Airport surged 328.2% on the year to 485,286 in the first quarter of this year, Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which is a shareholder in the company operating Croatia's biggest international airport, said.
In March alone, Zagreb Airport served 196,280 passengers, up by 152,549 passengers compared with March 2021, ADP said in a statement earlier this month.
Aircraft movements at the airport increased by 101% on the year to 8,643 in the first three months of 2022. In March the figure reached 3,230, up by 1,582 from March 2021.
ADP and Turkey's TAV Airports, 46%-owned by ADP Group, hold stakes of 21% and 15%, respectively, in airport operator Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC). In 2012, the Croatian government and ZAIC signed a 30-year concession contract for the management of the airport and the construction of a new terminal.
The remaining shareholders in ZAIC are France's Bouygues Batiment International with 20.8%, EU-backed Marguerite Fund with 20.8%, IFC with 17.6%, and Croatia's Viadukt with 5.1%.
