March 19 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Thursday it is suspending flights between Romania and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to restrictions imposed by UAE in an attempt to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.

The decision covers the March 21 - April 3 period, Wizz Air said in a press release.

Wizz Air was operating flights from Romania's Bucharest and Cluj to Dubai.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it is reducing the number of flights to destinations in Italy from Romania and twelve other countries due to low demand and cancellations caused by the outbreak of the coronavirus.

A total of 30 flights from the Romanian cities of Bucharest, Cluj, Craiova, Iasi, Suceava, Timisoara and Iasi to Milan, Rome, Treviso, Bologna, Bari, Catania, Naples, Pisa, and Torino have been affected, Wizz said.

Elsewhere in Southeastern Europe, Wizz Air has also decided to reduce the frequency of flights from Moldova, Albania, Bulgaria and Montenegro to affected areas in Italy.
