November 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's consumer prices rose by 0.5% month-on-month in October, after rising by a monthly 1.1% in September, the National Statistics Office said on Wednesday.
Year-on-year consumer price inflation in October was 10.9%, compared to 11% in September, the NSI said.
The cumulative inflation through September was 8.0%.
In October house rents, prices of repairs and utility bills increased by a monthly 0.4%. Prices of food and soft drinks rose by 1.2%. Transport costs fell by 3.1%.
Bulgaria's EU harmonised consumer price index rose by a monthly 0.1% in October after rising by a monthly 0.9% in September. The annual EU-harmonised consumer price inflation was 11.2% in October, compared to 11.4% a month earlier.
Monthly EU-harmonised consumer price inflation was mainly fuelled by a 4.5% rise in education costs with the start of the school year on September 15.
The government in Sofia sees end-year inflation slowing down to below 10% from 12.5% at the end of 2007.
