April 30 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's general industrial producer price index (PPI) went down by 8.7% year-on-year in March after losing 9.3% in February, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, the industrial PPI fell by 1.6% in March on the back of an 8.2% decline in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a monthly report. At the same time, producer prices went up by 6.3% month-on-month in the mining and quarrying industry and by 0.1% in the manufacturing industry.
Producer prices on the domestic market sank by 12.7% on the year in March, following a 12.1% drop in February. The fall last month was primarily due to a 30.6% slump in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply prices. Producer prices on the non-domestic market decreased by an annual 1.6% in March.
In annual terms, the most compelling price increases in Bulgaria's manufacturing industry were posted in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products - at 13.7%, and in rubber and plastic products - at 10.4%. Meanwhile, domestic producer prices in the manufacture of textiles grew by 8.5% year-on-year.
