December 14 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's inflation slowed to 16.9% on the year in November, after decelerating to 17.6% in October, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Wednesday.
On a monthly comparison basis, inflation in Bulgaria slowed to 0.8% last month from 0.9% in October, the statistical office said in a monthly inflation report.
Inflation under the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 14.3% in November compared to the same month of 2021 and 0.6% higher than in October.
In November, prices in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category, which have the largest weight in the consumer basket, increased the most -- by 26.6% year-on-year, the data showed. Prices of goods and services in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose by 19.8% compared to November 2021, noticeably less than their 24.2% annual increase recorded in October.
In monthly terms, consumer prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels dipped by 1.5% in November, whereas those in transport inched down by 0.5%, NSI also said.
Consumer prices in Bulgaria have risen by 15.8% since the start of 2022, whereas the annual average inflation rate between December 2021 and end-November was 14.6% compared to the prior-year period.
