SOFIA (Bulgaria), November 15 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's consumer prices rose by 6% year-on-year in October after a 4.8% annual increase in September, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Monday.

On a monthly comparison basis, consumer prices added 1.8% in October, after rising by 0.4% in September, the NSI said in a monthly inflation report.

The highest annual price increase, of 19.7%, was registered in the transport sector, which has the third-highest weight in the consumer basket.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the largest weight in the consumer basket, went up 5.9% year-on-year in October. The sub-index tracking the other major category - housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, increased by 9% on the year.

Bulgaria’s EU-harmonised consumer price index (HICP) rose by 5.2% on an annual comparison basis in October and was 1.3% higher than its September level.
