May 13 (SeeNews) - Turkish power plant operator Aksa Enerji Uretim A.S. [IST:AKSEN] said it has inked an agreement with Uzbekistan's energy ministry for the construction of a 240 MW natural gas combined cycle (CCGT) power plant in Tashkent.
Under the agreement, Aksa Enerji will also operate the plant and sell the generated energy with a guaranteed-capacity payment for a period of 25 years, the Turkish company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The value of the deal remained undisclosed.
The plant will generate approximately 2 billion kWh of electricity annually.
Aksa Enerji expects to start construction following planned site allocations, whereas the commissioning of the plant is planned within 12 months.
The contract is in line with Aksa Enerji's plan to focus on overseas investments as part of its globalisation strategy, the company said.
Aksa Enerji has so far built power plants in Turkey, Cyprus, Ghana, Madagascar and Mali.
