March 11 (SeeNews) - Turkey's energy company Fides Elektrik Enerjisi will build two solar power plants with a combined capacity of nearly 8 MW in the technological industrial development zones in North Macedonia's Strumica and Struga, North Macedonia's Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones (TIDZ) said on Monday.
Fides won a tender for the development of the solar power plants launched in November, which also attracted one other offer from an Israeli-Chinese consortium, TIDZ said in a press release.
Fides will build the power plants under a 25-year public-private partnership contract (PPP), wherein the company will allocate 10% of generated revenues to the government, along with an additional fixed compensation for the land. After the expiration of the contract, Fides is obliged to transfer the ownership of the power plants to the state with 80% production capacity.
TIDZ said it will launch a new call for the development of solar power plants in the technological industrial development zones in Skopje, Stip and Prilep by the end of March.
TIDZ anticipates drawing 40 million euro ($43.7 million) in investments for the construction of approximately 50 MW solar power plants across five technological industrial development zones, it said earlier.
TIDZ is the governmental managing body responsible for developing free economic zones throughout North Macedonia. Currently, it manages 14 free economic zones throughout the country.
