April 1 (SeeNews) - Turkey's health minister Fahrettin Koca said that the number of coronavirus cases in Turkey has increased to 13,531, as the infection has claimed 214 lives, local media reported.

In the past 24 hours, 2,704 new patients were diagnosed with the COVID-19 disease and 46 died from it, Koca said in a Twitter post on Tuesday, as reported by Sabah Daily.

The country has quarantined a total of 41 towns and areas, the newspaper quoted Turkey's president Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying on Monday.

The country has suspended all international flights, ordered the closure of schools and universities and banned mass prayers in an effort to contain the coronavirus outbreak. Turkey has also enforced a nationwide all-day curfew on weekends for people aged 65 or over, as well as citizens with chronic conditions.
