March 7 (SeeNews) - Kosovo-Albanian power exchange Alpex said on Thursday that the total volume of electricity traded in the day-ahead market (DAM) amounted to 110 GWh in its inaugural month of cross-zone trading in February.
Of the total, 80.3 GWh of electricity was traded for the Albania bidding zone, and 29.5 GWh for the Kosovo bidding zone, both with an average market clearing price of 74.75 euro ($81.46) per megawatt hour, Alpex said in a monthly report.
Energy flow from the Albanian bidding zone towards the bidding zone of Kosovo reached 1.44 GWh, whereas Kosovo exchange members delivered 20.3 GWh to their Albanian peers.
Alpex, founded by Albania’s power transmission operator OST and Kosovo’s KOSTT in October 2020, has a total of 23 members in the bidding zones of Albania and Kosovo. Trading in the Albanian zone began on April 2023.
Its first auction in the Kosovo bidding zone, which also kicked off trade in the inter-zone exchange, was held on January 31, for the electricity delivered on February 1.
