May 5 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's trade balance turned to a 1.649 billion euro ($1.746 billion) deficit in the first quarter of 2022, from a 703.6 million euro surplus in the like period of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Thursday.
Exports in January-March grew 21.6% on the year to 11.464 billion euro, while imports rose 49.1% to 13.112 billion euro, the statistical office, SURS, said in a statement.
The European Union was Slovenia’s main trading partner in the three-month period, absorbing 7.821 billion euro of the country's exports and providing 8.288 billion euro of its imports.
In March alone, Slovenia's exports went up 23.7% on the year to 4.354 billion euro, while imports grew 45.5% to 4.993 billion euro, resulting in a 639 million euro trade deficit for the month.
