LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), November 24 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's labour force was estimated at 887,200 in September, down 1.1% year-on-year, after decreasing by an annual 1.2% in August, the country's statistical office said.
On a monthly comparison basis, however, the number of employed rose 0.6% in September after declining 0.1% in August, the statistical office said in a statement last week.
The monthly increase was largest in education, where the number of employees rose 2.6% to 74,800.
At the same time, the number of people employed in financial and insurance activities fell most, by a monthly 0.3% to 19,700 in August.
Overall, the number of people in paid employment went up by a monthly 0.6% and fell by an annual 1.5% in September to 793,000, while the number of self-employed edged up by 0.2% on the month and rose 3.1% on the year to 94,270.
Slovenia has a population of around two million.
