November 20 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant Nuklearna Elektrarna Krsko was back online on November 17 after a leak led to its shutdown on October 5, it said.
"The Krsko Nuclear Power Plant's generator was resynchronised with the power grid last night at 21:37. The plant is currently running at 28% and will gradually increase its power by operating procedures," the plant operator, NEK, said in a statement on Saturday.
Organisations authorised by the Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (SNSA) gave a positive opinion for the start-up after an independent control of the plant's activities, NEK said.
NEK shut down Krsko in October after a leakage was detected in the primary system within the containment structure. The malfunction falls below the specified limit in technical regulations and poses no threat to the safety of employees, the public, or the environment, NEK said back then.
The facility operates a single Westinghouse pressurised light water reactor with a thermal power capacity of 2,000 MW.
