LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 28 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by a real 2.4% in 2019, the country's statistical office said on Friday, citing preliminary estimates.
In 2018, Slovenia's GDP grew by 4.5%.
Slovenia's 2019 GDP amounted to 48.0 billion euro ($52.6 billion) at current prices, up by a nominal 4.9% over 2018, the statistical office said in a statement.
External demand had a positive impact on economic growth, as exports increased by 4.4% at constant prices. Domestic demand also rose - by 2.1%.
Gross fixed capital formation in 2019 increased by 3.2%, which was significantly lower growth than in 2018, when it grew by 9.1%. Household final consumption expenditure increased by 2.4% which was also more moderate growth than in 2018 (2.9%).
In the fourth quarter alone, Slovenia's GDP expanded by 1.7% year-on-year, compared to a growth rate of 2.4% in the third quarter.
Seasonally-adjusted fourth quarter GDP increased by 0.4% over the previous quarter and by 1.7% over the same quarter of 2018.
