LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), February 24 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's economic sentiment index rose by 1.1 percentage points (pps) month-on-month to 5.1 pps in February, after increasing by 1.0 pps in January, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
On an annual comparison basis, however, the overall economic sentiment indicator was 3.9 pps lower in February, after dropping by 8.0 pps in January, the statistical office said in a statement.
The monthly increase came as a result of higher confidence in retail trade (up 1.0 pp) and manufacturing (up 0.7 pps), which offset the lower confidence among consumers (down 0.4 pps) and in the services sector and in construction (down by 0.1 pps each).
In annual terms, the February decline was influenced by shrinking confidence in four of the five index indicators - consumers (down 1.9 pps), services (down 1.7 pps), manufacturing (down 0.6 pps) and construction (down 0.5 pps). The only gainer was retail trade (up 0.9 pps).
