September 3 (SeeNews) - Slovenia recorded a budget deficit of 28.5 million euro ($31.3 million) in the first seven months of 2019, compared to a surplus of 68.1 million euro in the like period last year, the finance ministry said.
Total budget revenues increased 5.8% year-on-year to 5.77 billion euro in the seven-month period, while expenditures rose by 7.8% to 5.8 billion euro, the finance ministry said in a statement last week.
“The expected deficit in this part of the year, among other things, resulted in the July payment of the annual pension supplement and the personal income tax refunds,” the ministry noted.
Tax revenues, which represent the main source of revenues to the state budget, amounted to 4.9 billion euro in January-July, up 4% compared to the same period in 2018.

Slovenia ended 2018 with a budget surplus of 536.9 million euro, compared to a deficit of 326.2 million euro in 2017.
