January 12 (SeeNews) - Serbia's consumer prices rose by 7.6% year-on-year in December, after increasing by an annual 8% in November, the statistical office said on Friday.
In 2023, consumer prices increased by 12.1% on average compared to 2022, the statistical office said in a statement.
According to data published earlier, Serbia had annual inflation of 15.1% in December 2022 and average annual inflation of 11.9% for full year 2022.
On a monthly comparison basis, Serbia's consumer price index (CPI) grew by 0.1% in December 2023, after rising by 0.5% November, the statistical office said.
The biggest price increases in annual terms in December 2023 were recorded for housing, water and energy, by 11.6%, restaurant and hotel services, by 9.7%, followed by household equipment and maintenance, up 9.4%. Prices of restaurant and hotel services went up 10.8% year-on-year in December, healthcare services saw a 9.2% price increase, recreation and culture activities were up 9.1%, while prices of clothing, footwear, alcohol and tobacco rose 8.8%.
On a monthly comparison basis, prices of recreation and culture activities rose by 1.2% in December, household equipment and maintenance increased by 1% and clothing and footwear were up by 0.9%.
