July 19 (SeeNews) - Enterprises in Slovenia sold 24.1 billion euro ($27.8 billion) of goods on the domestic market in 2016, up 2.4% on the year, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The increase over 2015 was mainly a result of the higher value of goods sold in wholesale, the office of statistics said in a statement.
Goods totalling 12.5 billion euro were sold in wholesale in Slovenia last year, which is 4.6% more than in 2015. This is the second highest value of goods sold in wholesale since 2008, after sales reached 12.6 billion euro in 2011.
Successful sales of passenger cars on the wholesale market continued in 2016. Sales of passenger cars increased to 1.5 billion euro, 23.7% higher on the year.
The value of goods sold in retail remained stable at 11.6 billion euro last year, which is 0.1% more than in 2015, the statistical office said.
Food and beverages were the most important goods in retail trade and represented almost a quarter (24.4%) of total turnover. The value of food and beverages sold in 2016 was 2.2% lower than in 2015.
