September 5 (SeeNews) - NLB Banka Beograd, the Serbian unit of Slovenia's largest lender, state-owned Nova Ljubljanska Banka (NLB), said it has booked a net profit of 4.6 million euro ($5.5 million) in the first half of 2017.
This compared to a net profit of 2.3 million euro in the first half of 2016 reported by the bank last year.
Corporate lending rose by 50% on the year, while loans to the agriculture sector totalled 22 million euro in the first six months of 2017, NLB Banka Beograd said in a statement on Monday.
"In the first six months of this year, NLB Banka Beograd supported the citizens and the economy of Serbia in the execution of personal and business plans with loans in the amount of 108.5 million euro," the president of the bank, Branko Greganovic, said in the statement.
The total revenue of the NLB Group in Serbia rose to 11.8 million euro in the first half of 2017 from 10.3 million euro in the like period of last year, while net income increased to 11.1 million euro from 8.9 million euro, the group said in its financial report for the review period issued on Friday.
The assets of the group in Serbia increased to 365.4 million euro at the end of June 2017, up from 316 million euro a year earlier.
In addition to NLB Banka Beograd, the Slovenian lender also holds controlling stakes in six other companies in Serbia.
