PODGORICA (Montenegro), May 19 (SeeNews) – Montenegro's parliament dismissed early on Thursday its speaker Ranko Krivokapic and supported changes in the cabinet, proposed by prime minister Milo Djukanovic, after prolonged debates.
The MP's also adopted a Law on the application of the Agreement on creating conditions for free and fair elections in the country, to be held by October, a brief statement, published on the parliament's website, read.
The cabinet reshuffle came as part of an agreement between Djukanovic and the opposition on "forming the government of electoral confidence", which was signed in January and envisaged the entry of some opposition parties into the government.
In addition to the speaker, the parliament dismissed Radoje Zugic as finance minister and Zorica Kovacevic as labour minister and appointed six new cabinet members - Rasko Konjevic as finance minister, Boris Maric as labour minister, Goran Danilovic as interior minister, Milenko Popovic as agriculture minister and two deputy prime ministers – Milorad Vujovic and Petar Ivanovic.
Djukanovic is expected to sign Montenegro's accession agreement with NATO later today, paving the way of the small ex-Yugoslav republic to a full membership in the military alliance.
