March 17 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's government plans to open its seaports for the import of goods to all countries in the Western Balkans and support them in the fight against the adverse consequences of the coronavirus crisis, prime minister Dusko Markovic said on Tuesday.

"In addition to numerous measures to protect its citizens, Montenegro has made the decision to make its ports available to countries in the region for the flow of goods and to keep its borders open for trade and supply," Markovic said in a video file posted on the YouTube channel of the Montenegrin government.

Closing markets and economies, blocking resources is not an expression of solidarity or of European values, Markovic said during a video conference with Austria's chancellor Sebastian Kurz.

Montenegro is the only country in Europe that has not reported a coronavirus case thus far, according to data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. On March 16, the country closed its borders for foreign nationals to prevent the spread of the disease on its territory.
