- Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic has urged the European Union to grant membership to all Western Balkan countries in time for the 100th anniversary of the 1914 outbreak of World War I. He said this is the only way to secure stability in the region, which gave more than 100,000 victims in the 1990’s wars in former Yugoslavia, adding the EU should take bold actions.
- A Croatian consortium led by the Konstructor company has provided the whole guarantee of 1.4 billion euro for the construction of Montenegro’s 169.2 kilometre Bar-Boljare motorway, the Montenegrin Transport Ministry said. It added the consortium also asked for an extention of the deadline for the final signing of the concession and the financial contracts. The value of the whole project is 2.7 billion euro.
- Close to 2.0 million shares of Montenegrin coal mine Rudnik Uglja worth 12 million euro changed hands this week and the suspected buyer is Italy’s A2A or investors connected to it, local news portal Analitika reported. A2A bought 18.3% of state shares in power utility EPCG for over 192 million euro earlier this year. Last week, Italian investors bought shares equal to some 20% of Rudnik Uglja for 6.48 million euro.
- The government said it sold at an auction assets of hotel operator Budvanska Rivijera for a total of 1.76 million euro.
- The construction of a 140 million euro hotel complex Bolici has started in Montenegro’s capital Podgorica, the city government said. The project will be developed in public-private partnership between the city and Italian firm Bolici.
