December 24 (SeeNews) - The industrial output of Moldova's breakaway region of Transdniestria declined by 1.0% on the year in January-November, the region's economy ministry said.
Transdniestria's industrial production totalled $764.5 million (578.8 million euro) in the first eleven months, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The output of the power generating sector jumped 8.5% on the year to $284.5 million.
Transdniestria is located on the eastern bank of the Dniestr river, in eastern Moldova. It broke away in 1990 as its largely Slavic, pro-Russian population feared that the country's Romanian-speaking majority would unite with neighbouring Romania.
