- Five Macedonian mines plan to invest some 30 million euro in research and new equipment in the next five years, Nikolajco Nikolov, the head of the Macedonian Mining Association said. The Fenimak nickel mine will invest 20 million euro, the Bucim copper mine – 5 million euro, lead and zinc smelter Sasa - 2.5 million euro and the Zletovo and Toranica lead and zinc mines a combined 2.9 million euro.
- Despite a 7.5% monthly rise in industrial output in August, most of the 30,000 industrial workers that have already been dismissed can not be re-hired for at least one year, the Federation of Trade Unions has warned. Currently, the country’s textile industry is in the most critical condition, the Union said.
