The factory is expected to deliver over 80 tonnes of dairy products per month.
A further 2 million euro will be used to modernize the cooperative's factories located in Berca, Buzau county, and in the western city of Arad.
"The main purpose of the cooperative is not to deliver as much and as quickly as possible, but on the contrary: an investment of 2 million euro will lead to the improvement of the dairy production technology - brushing, weighing, packing etc., in order to deliver healthy products of the highest quality to the final consumer," Tara Mea president Florin Burculescu said.
The cooperative was founded in 2015 by the Romanian arm of German retailer Kaufland as its local brand of fresh products. Today, under its umbrella, there are approximately 350 farmers active in the cultivation of vegetables and dairy, pork and poultry meat processing.
The cooperative operates three factories - in Buzau, Arad and Ploiesti, producing dairy worth 500,000 euro per month, which required a total investment of 7.2 million euro so far.
Tara Mea posted a turnover of 26 million euro in 2017.
