June 19 (SeeNews) - The operator of Croatia's Rijeka port said it has signed a 97.7 million kuna ($14.5 million/12.9 million euro) contract with Italy's Nuova Co.Ed.Mar for dredging the seabed at its Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT).
The contractor will dig the seabed 100 metres deep along the coastal wall of AGCT's southern berth, thus making the depth of the Kostrena pier equal along the whole 428 metres of operational coastal area at the terminal, the Rijeka port said in a statement on Thursday when the deal was signed.
The project was approved back in September 2018 and has an overall estimated value of 17.4 million euro ($19.5 million), with the European Union grants contributing 20% of the total cost.
