August 26 (SeeNews) - Marina Punat, located on the Adriatic island of Krk in Croatia, plans to invest 50 million kuna ($7.5 million/6.8 million euro) by 2025 in improving its capacities, the Croatian tourism ministry said on Monday.
Marina Punat hopes that the investment will help it acquire five anchors status, which is the highest recognition it could receive in the country, the ministry said in a statement, following a visit by tourism minister Gari Cappelli to the Krk island and marina.
Marina Punat, the oldest marina in Croatia, was established in 1964.
It comprises 1,450 berths on 14 piers for up to 40 metre boats.
The tourism ministry cited data from the eVisitor website, according to which 925,000 tourists visited Krk in 2018, spending seven million overnights. The majority of tourists come from Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Italy and Hungary.
