March 30 (SeeNews) - The people infected by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Croatia have increased to 790 as of midday on Monday, up by 77 from a day earlier, the Croatian Institute of Public Health, HZJZ, said.
At the same time, the number of those who have recovered from the disease has increased to 64 from 52, HZJZ said in a statement posted on the government-run website created to monitor the virus spread in the country.
The number of deaths from the disease remained unchanged at 6, while a total of 27 patients have been put on assisted lung ventilation, it added.
The tally is based on the test results of 6,404 people.
As of last week, the Croatian government has barred people from leaving their place of permanent residence in an attempt to slow down the further spread of the virus.
The working hours of shops in Croatia have been reduced and they are now open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Public transport has been halted for 30 days, parks and outdoor sports centres were closed down and new rules were introduced for marriages and funerals.
Croatia has also banned public and religious gatherings and sports events for 30 days, closed its borders and shut down all restaurants and non-essential shops.
The first person to test positive for COVID-19 in Croatia was registered on February 25.
