June 14 (SeeNews) - Production of electricity in Bulgaria rose by 17.28% year-on-year to 24,169 GWh in the period January 1 - June 12, most recent data by the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) showed.
Domestic power consumption inched up 1.46% in annual terms, reaching 18,229 GWh in the review period, according to data published in ESO's weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus increased by 124.83% compared to the same period in 2021 - to 5,940 GWh.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network added 21.64% on the year, reaching 724 GWh. The volume of renewable energy in the distribution system rose by 16.52% to about 1,039 GWh.
The output of hydro power plants shrank 32.94% year-on-year to 2,026 GWh.
