BELGRADE (Serbia), August 21 (SeeNews) – Serbia's infrastructure ministry said Bulgarian construction company Trace Group Hold [BUL:T57] has started the laying of asphalt on a motorway section of Corridor X in Grdelicka Klisura canyon in eastern Serbia.
Trace Group has started laying asphalt on a 4.7 km-long stretch of Corridor X, between the Predejane tunnel and Caricina Dolina, the infrastructure ministry said in a statement on Friday.
The works represent the first asphalt laying in Grdelicka Klisura in the last 30 years, infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic said in the statement.
The Predejane-Caricina Dolina stretch is part of the 11.8 km-long Grdelica-Caricina Dolina section of the southern area of Corridor X in Serbia. Trace is also building the Bela Palanka-Pirot and Pirot-Dimitrovgrad sections of the eastern area of the corridor.
Corridor X will connect Salzburg in Austria to the Greek port of Thessaloniki, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia. In Serbia, the project includes the construction of the Belgrade bypass motorway, as well as two separate sections, linking Nis to Levosoje, near the border with Macedonia, to the south, and to the border with Bulgaria to the east.
