November 16 (SeeNews) - The average household expenditure per capita in Bulgaria increased by 15.2% on the year in the third quarter of 2021, while the average income per household member rose by 10.5%, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on Tuesday.
A household member spent 1,808 levs ($1,056.3/924.4 euro) on average in the July-September period of this year, while their income amounted to 1,938 levs, NSI said in a statement.
Wages and salaries formed 58.2% of household income, followed by pensions and self-employment income with 28.7% and 5.4%, respectively.
Expenses for food and non-alcoholic beverages accounted for 29.8% of total household expenditure, while expenditure on housing made up 17.4%.
Taxes and social insurance contributions accounted for 12.9% of total household spending in the review quarter, followed by transport and communication services with 10.9%.
