April 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian state-owned railways operator BDZ Holding plans to launch a tender for the purchase of 41 passenger railcars in about a month, the company's CEO said on Tuesday in a broadcast on the national TV channel BNT.
"We are focused on the tender for these 41 passenger railcars and finding the necessary financing to implement this project," Vladimir Vladimirov said in the broadcast.
The second stage of the investment envisages the purchase of another 44 passenger railcars.
On September 4, BDZ told SeeNews it plans to launch a public tender for the purchase of 41 new passenger railcars for a total of 380 million levs ($231.4 million/194.3 million euro) in October.
To fully upgrade its fleet of railcars, BDZ needs to invest between 800 million levs and 1.3 billion levs, Vladimirov said in a statement on September 1.
