January 25 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian civil engineering consortium Alliance 10 will start laying asphalt at the Predejane tunnel of pan-European Corridor X in Grdelicka Klisura canyon in eastern Serbia on Saturday, Serbia's infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic has said.
"Asphalt-laying in the Predejane tunnel will begin over the weekend, first in the right pipe, and then in the left," Mihajlovic said in a press release issued by the infrastructure ministry on Wednesday.
With the launch of the Predejane tunnel, Serbia will complete construction works on the first section of Corridor X in Grdelicka Klisura canyon, Mihajlovic said.
The Serbian government invested 15.2 million euro ($19 million) in the construction of the one kilometre-long tunnel, using financing provided by the European Investment Bank.
The tunnel is being built by Alliance 10, a Bulgarian consortium comprising companies Euro Alliance Tunnels and Roads and Bridges. Construction works started in December 2013.
