November 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian car dealers sold 45,838 new cars in the first 10 months of 2008, up 14% on the year, the country's car importers' union, the association of car manufacturers and their authorised representatives in the country, ACM, said on Tuesday.
Opel is the market leader in the ten-month period with a 10.21% share, followed by Toyota with 9.74% and Volkswagen with 8.89%, ACM said in a statement.
New truck sales in the first 10 months of the year increased to 3,693 from 2,350 a year earlier. Mercedes topped the list with 1,289 trucks sold.
A total of 241 buses were sold in Bulgaria from January through October versus 142 in the year-ago period.

Sales of new cars in Bulgaria rose by 22% to 52,009 in 2007. The Black Sea country of 7.6 million people does not manufacture automobiles. Growth in new car sales in Bulgaria will slow down to 18% in the next years but the market will remain attractive, according to a research by international agency Research and Markets.
