May 4 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's parliament approved a coalition government's proposal to provide repair services for Ukrainian military equipment in order to back Ukraine's resistance against the Russian invasion, alongside other humanitarian and political support measures, public TV broadcaster BNT reported on Wednesday.
The decision proposed by We Continue the Change party of prime minister Kiril Petkov was adopted with 200 votes in favour, 16 and one abstention in the 240-seat National Assembly, a tally published by BNT showed.
Ukraine wants to rely on Bulgaria only in terms of repair and maintenance of its military equipment at Bulgarian plants, Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelenskiyy said in a letter delivered to parliament earlier on Wednesday, BNT added.
The repair services for Ukrainian military equipment form part of a broader assistance package which also includes the provision of humanitarian, financial and military technological aid to Ukraine, continued help for Ukrainian refugees arriving in Bulgaria, ongoing support for Ukraine's application to join the European Union as well as ensuring ways to import Ukrainian grain through the Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna, according to the media report.
The decision does not include the provision of weapons or other military hardware to Ukraine.
