June 7 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria recorded the EU's third-highest monthly increase in the industrial producer price index (PPI) in April, of 4.1%, whereas Romania showed the only PPI decrease among EU members in Southeast Europe (SEE), of 3.2%, Eurostat said.
Among the 27 EU member states, only Slovakia and Luxembourg posted a higher increase in PPI on a monthly comparison basis in April - of 9.3% and 6.0%, respectively, the EU's statistical office said in a statement last week.
The drop in Romania's industrial producer prices was also the second-biggest decrease in monthly terms across the EU27.
However, Romania saw the highest year-on-year increase in industrial producer prices among EU members in Southeast Europe (SEE), at 60.4%, followed by Bulgaria with 49.7%.
The annual rise in Romania's PPI in April was also the third-highest rate of increase on this indicator across the EU, after Ireland and Denmark which came up together in first place, Eurostat figures showed.
With a PPI increase of 23.4% on the year in April, Slovenia ranked the lowest on this indicator out of the five EU member states in SEE.
