DNEVNIK
- The Bulgarian government backed the long-delayed 500 million euro Gorna Arda hydropower project by issuing a letter of support, which is the key for finalising a deal between Austrian consortium comprising EVN and Alpine Bau, and Turkey's Construction Contracting Group (CCG), Energy Minister Traycho Tryakov said. Under the deal the consortium will take over the 30% stake of the Turkish company in the project and Bulgaria's power grid operator NEK will hold the remainder.

- Bulgaria may receive a combined 880 million levs in privatisation revenue if it sells tobacco group Bulgartabac, the heating utilities in Sofia and the northeastern city of Shumen, arms producer VMZ Sopot, arms trader Kintex and the minority stakes in the country's electricity distribution companies, the Privatisation Agency head Todor Nikolov said.

- The shrinking of the car insurance market in Romania affected the half-year financial results of financial and inurance group Eurohold Bulgaria, which has insurance business in Romania, the group said. Eurhold Bulgaria turned to a 4.0 million levs net loss through June compared to a net profit of 41 million levs a year ago.

- Bulgaria may consider cutting value-added tax by two percentage points 18% in 2011 when its economy will start recovering, Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov said.
