BUCHAREST (Romania), October 20 (SeeNews) – Bucharest bourse indices closed mostly higher on Tuesday amid calm trading dominated by the two blue-chip banks, brokers said.
The blue-chip BET index of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, BVB, rose 0.45% to 4,669.54 points. The BET-FI index, which tracks the country's five regional investment funds, the SIFs, gained 0.62% to 23,627.73 points.
The composite BET-C index added 0.15% to 2,837.34 and the ROTX index of Romania's 15 most liquid stocks, a joint index of the BVB and the Vienna Stock Exchange, climbed 0.55% to 9,864.40.
BVB's turnover jumped to 31.9 million lei ($11.1 million/7.4 million euro) from 11.9 million lei on Monday, thanks to 14.4 million lei worth of bond trades. The number of traded shares decreased to 21.2 million compared to 32.9 million on Monday.
Blue-chip bank BRD ended unchanged at 12.9 lei in the day's largest turnover of 4.3 million lei, while its blue-chip peer Banca Transilvania jumped 2.84% to 1.81 lei on deals worth 4.3 million lei, Tuesday’s second largest turnover.
SIF 5 Oltenia appreciated by 0.85% to 1.19 lei in the session’s third largest turnover of 3.3 million lei. SIF 2 Moldova fell 0.93% to 1.07 lei in 1.2 million lei turnover. Austria’s Erste Bank ticked 0.08% higher to 130.1 lei in deals worth 345,000 lei.
Blue-chip oil and gas company Dafora slid 0.87% to 0.114 lei in 323,000 lei turnover, while pipeline builder Condmag rose 0.83% to 0.605 lei on deals worth 653,000 lei. Fertiliser maker Azomures picked up 2.03% to 0.352 lei in 421,000 lei turnover.
Blue-chip oil and gas group Petrom was suspended from trading due to a general shareholders' meeting.
The BET-XT index, which tracks the 25 most liquid companies on the bourse, including the SIFs, gained 0.5% to 462.52 points. The BET-NG, which includes companies from the energy sector and utilities, was the only index to fall, shedding 0.14% to 621.97 points.
Rasdaq-C, the composite index of the over-the-counter market RASDAQ, edged up 0.18% to 2,243.52. Turnover on the RASDAQ rose to 2.5 million lei from 2.1 million lei on Monday.
