Oct 12, 1993 - Banca Transilvania SA is established as a banking institution, following the approval by the National Bank of Romania. It is based in Cluj-Napoca, northern Romania and has a subscribed capital of ROL 2.05 bln.
Dec 16, 1993 - The bank is registered in the Commercial Register of Romania.
Jan 28, 1994 - Banca Transilvania SA receives an authorisation as a credit institution by the National Bank of Romania.
Oct 7, 1994 - Banca Transilvania SA sets up its majority-owned subsidiary SAR Transilvania, specialising in insurance services, which renames to BT Asigurari Transilvania SA in 2004. In December 2007, Banca Transilvania SA sells BT Asigurari Transilvania SA to the French insurance group Groupama International SA for EUR 90 mln.
June 8, 1995 - The bank sets up BT Leasing Transilvania IFN SA, a leasing services company, based in Cluj-Napoca.
Oct 15, 1997 - Banca Transilvania SA lists on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
February 1999 - Banca Transilvania SA acquires a 10.41% stake in financial intermediation company BT Securities SA, based in Cluj-Napoca.
July 2001 - The bank increases its stake in BT Securities SA to 75.4%.
Dec 20, 2001 - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) acquires a 15% stake in Banca Transilvania SA.
April 2002 - Banca Transilvania SA increases its stake in BT Securities SA to 88.55%.
Jan 10, 2003 - The bank establishes the micro-financing company BT Direct IFN SA in Cluj-Napoca.
Jan 16, 2003 - Banca Transilvania SA acquires a stake in Medicredit Leasing IFN SA, specialising in leasing services for medical equipment.
Feb 22, 2005 - The bank sets up its majority-owned subsidiary BT Asset Management S.A.I. SA in Cluj-Napoca, engaged in management of investment funds.
July 14, 2006 - Banca Transilvania SA and Austria's Intermarket Bank AG set up Romanian joint venture company Compania de Factoring IFN SA, specialising in financing.
September 2006 - The bank establishes Clubul Intreprinzatorului Roman (the Romanian Entrepreneurs Club), specialising in business consultancy.
July 5, 2007 - Banca Transilvania SA and Dutch Aegon Group, establish Romanian pension funds management company BT Aegon Fond de Pensii SA. Banca Transilvania SA holds a 50% stake in the newly established company.
Dec 20, 2007 - The bank sets up financial brokerage companies BT Evaluator SRL and BT Consultant SRL in Cluj-Napoca.
2015 - Banca Transilvania SA acquires 100% of local peer Volksbank Romania SA. In January 2016, the merger process of Volksbank Romania SA into Banca Transilvania SA is completed.
2016 - The bank establishes a subsidiary BT Microfinantare IFN SA.
March 2016 - Banca Transilvania SA takes over, through its subsidiary BT Securities SA, local consulting company Capital Partners SA. Later, Capital Partners SA merges into BT Securities SA, which changes its name to BT Capital Partners SA.
January 2018 - The bank acquires a 39.0% stake in Moldova`s lender Victoriabank SA.
February 2018 - Banca Transilvania SA announces its plans to become the sole owner of Victoriabank SA.
May 2018 - The bank acquires 99.15% of the local units of Greece's Eurobank - Bancpost SA, ERB Retail Services IFN SA and ERB Leasing IFN SA.
July 2018 - Banca Transilvania SA sells BT Operational Leasing SA to local company Autonom SA.
Dec 31, 2018 - The bank takes over Bancpost SA, which ceases to exist as a separate legal entity.
August 2019 - ERB Retail Services IFN SA merges with BT Direct IFN SA and ceases to exist as a separate legal entity.
2019 - Banca Transilvania SA acquires a 51.12% stake in the local IT services provider Timesafe SRL.
January 2020 - The bank announces its plans to acquire 100% of Moldovan Microinvest SRL.
June 2021 - Banca Transilvania SA buys Idea Bank Romania SA for EUR 43.0 mln.
