December 29 (SeeNews) - A 6.2 earthquake hit the town of Petrinja in central Croatia on Tuesday, the country's seismological office said.

According to reports in local media, a child has died in the quake.

The earthquake struck at 1219 CET, the seismological office said in a post on Twitter.

The quake has cause significant damage in the town of Petrinja, local daily Jutarnji List reported, quoting mayor Darinko Dumbovis.

On Monday morning, two earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 4.1 hit Petrinja.
