September 16 (SeeNews) - Passenger traffic at Zagreb Airport surged 187.9% on the year to 1.977 million in the first eight months of this year, Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which is a shareholder in the company operating Croatia's biggest international airport, said.
In August alone, Zagreb Airport served 348,381 passengers, up by 153,388 passengers compared with August 2021, ADP said in a statement on Thursday.
Aircraft movements at the airport increased by 65% on the year to 27,538 in the first eight months of 2022. In August the figure reached 4,061, up by 975 from August 2021.
ADP and Turkey's TAV Airports, 46%-owned by ADP Group, hold stakes of 21% and 15%, respectively, in airport operator Zagreb Airport International Company (ZAIC).
In 2012, the Croatian government and ZAIC signed a 30-year concession contract for the management of the airport and the construction of a new terminal.
The remaining shareholders in ZAIC are France's Bouygues Batiment International with 20.8%, EU-backed Marguerite Fund with 20.8%, IFC with 17.6%, and Croatia's Viadukt with 5.1%.
