January 14 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air said on Thursday it carried some 4.5 million passengers to and from Romania in 2015, up 13% on the year.
The company boarded over 19 million passengers globally last year, up by 17% as compared with 2014, Wizz Air said in a statement.
In Romania, Wizz Air operates from bases in the country’s capital Bucharest, the northwestern city of Cluj Napoca, the central town of Targu Mures, the western city of Timisoara and the southwestern city of Craiova.
On Monday, the company said it will launch in March this year a new route from Timisoara to Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
In December, Wizz Air said it will open a new base in Iasi county, in eastern Romania, in June with one new Airbus A320.
Wizz Air now offers a total of 106 Romanian routes to 16 countries from eight Romanian airports.
