SOFIA (Bulgaria), June 7 (SeeNews) – Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air is offering 2.5 million seats on flights to and from Bulgaria in 2017, 39% more compared to last year, Wizz Air’s corporate communications manager Gabor Vasarhelyi said on Wednesday.
“This figure emphasizes our commitment to Sofia and the country,” Vasarhelyi said during the Hotel and Tourism Investment Forum, held in Sofia.
In 2016, Wizz Air carried 1.7 million passengers to and from Bulgaria, an increase of 25% compared to 2015, he added.
Interest in flights to Bulgaria is highest in Germany, Netherlands and the U.K. according to Vasarhelyi.
Last month, Wizz Air said it held a market share of 59.55% on the low-cost segment of Bulgaria’s aviation market during its 2016/2017 financial year, ended March 31.
