May 16 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's economy expanded by 3.4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2017, after growing at the same annual pace in the previous quarter, a flash estimate of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Tuesday.
On a quarterly comparison basis the growth in gross domestic product (GDP) slowed to seasonally adjusted 0.8%, from 0.9% in the fourth quarter of 2016, the NSI data indicated.
Calculated in current prices, Bulgaria's GDP totalled 19.6 billion levs ($11 billion/10 billion euro) in the first quarter of 2017.
